For single dads of daughters
Millions of single dads are figuring out their daughter's natural hair on their own. You're not supposed to already know. Coco gives you a real system: step by step, no judgment, styles that hold from Monday to Friday.
You're not alone
Millions of fathers are raising daughters with natural hair and figuring it out on their own. The resources online weren't made for them. Coilhood's Dad Series was. Coco talks directly to you, not around you, with a system that actually works.
The basics first
You don't need a shelf of 20 bottles. You need these three, applied in this order, after every wash. Coilhood's full system recommends specific products matched to your daughter's hair type once she's profiled.
Applied to damp hair right after washing. This is the moisture base. Without it, everything else is harder. Apply section by section.
Example: SheaMoisture Leave-In Detangler
Applied over the leave-in. Seals the moisture in. A small amount: warm it between your palms first. Focus on ends, not roots.
Example: Mielle Organics Rosemary Oil
Applied last. Defines the coils, reduces frizz, and holds the style. A little goes a long way. Work through each section from root to tip.
Example: Cantu Kids Curling Cream
Coilhood profiles your daughter's specific hair type and recommends the exact products by name and budget. Take the free quiz to get hers.
The system
Once you have the routine down, this is repeatable every week. The first time takes longer. By week three, you'll have it.
Spray hair with water until damp. Apply conditioner section by section. Use a wide-tooth comb. Always start at the ends, work up. Never rush this step.
Sulfate-free shampoo on the scalp only. Gentle massage, not scrubbing. Rinse until the water runs clear. The conditioner handles the rest of the hair.
Apply a thick conditioner mid-shaft to ends. Put a shower cap on. Let it sit while she watches something. Then rinse it out completely.
Leave-in, then oil, then cream. Work in four sections: left front, right front, left back, right back. Clips help keep sections separate.
A simple two-strand twist-out or puff holds all week. Satin bonnet at bedtime. Refresh with water spray in the morning. Done.
"She cried during detangling. This is how to make sure it never happens again."

Monday to Friday styles
These hold for a full school week with a satin bonnet at night and a water refresh in the morning. Coilhood walks you through each one with Coco's step-by-step video.
Beginner-friendly. Split hair into sections, twist each one. Holds 5โ7 days. Low maintenance.
The easiest protective style. Gather hair up, use a satin scrunchie. Done in 3 minutes. Always cute.
Takes practice but holds the longest. Coilhood's video walks you through the technique from the start.
Twist at night, release in the morning. Gives a beautiful defined look without combing out on school days.
What to look for
You need more moisture in the LOC routine, or a heavier cream. Also check: is the water in your city hard? Hard water blocks moisture. Coilhood's climate adjuster catches this.
You're probably brushing dry or detangling from root to tip. Switch to a wide-tooth comb, wet hair only, and always start at the ends. This fixes 90% of painful detangling.
That's shrinkage. It's a sign of healthy, elastic coils: not a problem. Her hair is growing. You'll see the real length when it's wet and stretched.
Usually from tension: tight styles, elastic bands, or sleeping without a satin bonnet. Loosen the styles, switch to satin scrunchies, and give the edges a break from traction.
